Junk removal in Alvin
Alvin incorporated in 1893, a year before Pearland was platted, and is the oldest incorporated town in Brazoria County. It had 27,098 residents at the 2020 census, in houses built across more than a century.
Water Has Shaped Alvin’s Cleanups
Alvin holds a record it did not want: Tropical Storm Claudette dropped 43 inches of rain on it in 24 hours on July 25, 1979, at the time the largest 24-hour rainfall recorded in the United States. Towns that flood learn to keep things off the floor, and older Alvin houses often have their storage raised: on shelves, in lofts over garages, in outbuildings on blocks.
That changes a cleanout. The heavy items are up, not down, and bringing them down is slower than rolling them out.
A Mixed Town
Older center
Pier-and-beam houses, detached garages and workshops, long-held contents.
Newer edges
Slab-on-grade subdivisions with attached garages, where the job is more often a move-out or a single item.
Its Own City
Alvin runs its own city services, separate from Pearland’s, so Pearland’s curbside limits do not apply here. This site has not confirmed Alvin’s bulk rules; check with the City of Alvin before relying on curbside pickup for anything large.
